Conversations with Milton H. Erickson MD: Changing Individuals by Jay Haley If one could ask Milton Erickson anything one wished about how to change people, the answers would be in these conversations. The three volumes cover: the wide variety of techniques Erickson innovated for dealing with the individual's psychological problems, the issues of marriage and procedures for resolving problems, and Erickson's lively ways of doing therapy with children
'Hypnosis: A Comprehensive Guide by Tad James Research shows that many people react differently to different types of hypnotic induction - yet many hypnotherapists are confined to using only one technique. This practical book makes three radically different types of hypnosis easy to use in daily hypnotic work, exploring the methods of Milton H. Erickson, George Estabrooks and David Elman, presenting them in such a way as to allow a clear and accessible understanding. A resource for all students, trainers and therapists, it includes a range of powerful scripts for improved hypnotic work
Scripts and Strategies in Hypnotherapy by Roger P. Allen Reviewer: (hypnotherapy@yorkshirehypnosis.co.uk) from UK This book is perfect to start in hypnotherapy. First go on a hands on course, then buy this book. You may need to alter some scripts, but by then you will know how to. The knowledge behind the book is obvious, and i found, starting in hypnotherapy as I am, this book just keeps you heading in the right direction. Its not ground breaking, and certainly the professional with a few years under the belt, would find this boring, BUT its not for them. Its written in language you can understand, and no going of into to deep an discussion on them. They are simple and solid to start from. To sum up, for the professional with experience, stay away. For the person who has just finished and indepth course, get this book
Training Trances by John Overdurf and Julia Silverthorn Reviewer: stevewooding from England ... for anyone interested in hypnotherapy, training and the general operation of the conscious and unconscious minds. Very practical (it is in essence a transcript of a training session) with lots of suggestions(!) for trance-work. My copy is only a few months old and is already looking much the worse for wear - I'm on my third read through and have referred to it many other times
